About Bunnies on the Bayou, Inc.
Celebrating 46 years of unwavering dedication and active service to the Houston LGBTQIA+ community, Bunnies on the Bayou, Inc. is a 501(c)3 all-volunteer organization committed to enhancing the quality of life, promoting education, and upholding the human rights of individuals within this vibrant community.
What began in 1979 as an informal gathering has evolved into a cornerstone of charity and advocacy in the Greater Houston area. Our mission extends beyond momentary support—we strive to enact lasting change through various charitable, educational, and cultural programs. Since 2000, we have raised over $2 million, directly supporting critical cultural outreach programs, providing essential healthcare services, and fostering life-changing educational opportunities.
Each year, Bunnies on the Bayou culminates in a spectacular outdoor Music Festival featuring Grammy Award-winning artists and an epic lineup of top-tier DJs and performers. Past headliners include iconic names like Tracy Young, Coey Craig, Marti Frieson, Dan Slater, Roland Belmares, Dave Audé, Wayne G, and Miss Toto. This flagship event, held every Easter Sunday, attracts thousands of attendees, uniting them in celebration, connection, and a shared commitment to the Houston LGBTQIA+ community.
Our work is rooted in a deep respect for the diverse experiences and challenges faced by our community. We honor the legacy of those who came before us, including those lost to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, and reaffirm our commitment to destigmatizing the disease, supporting those affected, and continuing the urgent quest for a cure.
As we look to the future, Bunnies on the Bayou, Inc. remains steadfast in its mission. We are building a new era of service, fueled by the passion of our volunteers, the generosity of our sponsors, and the unwavering spirit of our community. Together, we stand as a beacon of hope, empowerment, and advocacy for the rights and well-being of the LGBTQIA+ community in Houston and beyond.”
